Samsung and Google introduce AI-Powered XR glasses: project moohan

Samsung officially unveiled its first extended reality (XR) glasses, named Project Moohan, during the Unpacked 2025 event. Co-developed with Google, this groundbreaking technology was showcased publicly for the first time, giving a glimpse of the company’s ambitious entry into the XR market.

The new XR glasses run on Android XR, an operating system specifically designed for smart glasses and XR/AR/VR devices. Initially, the glasses will be available to developers, but the timeline for consumer availability remains undisclosed.

Design-wise, Project Moohan bears a resemblance to Apple’s Vision Pro and Meta’s discontinued Quest Pro. However, it stands out with its advanced features, powered by Android XR OS, which includes multimodal artificial intelligence, real-time language translation, and integration with Google’s Gemini AI technology.

Project Moohan allows users to open and resize applications effortlessly, as well as position virtual objects in different parts of the room using touch and eye-tracking capabilities. According to Victoria Song from The Verge, the device also supports voice commands, enabling users to open maps, summarize messages, and even manage grocery shopping.

Samsung and Google emphasize that the standout feature of the glasses is their integration with Gemini AI, which sets them apart from competitors.

Extended reality (XR) is an umbrella term encompassing augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). Project Moohan aims to deliver this comprehensive experience, enhanced by cutting-edge AI capabilities, making it one of the most innovative products in the XR ecosystem.
