LinkedIn has announced that its Services Marketplace, a platform that allows freelancers to showcase their services and connect with more clients, has reached 10 million registered users.
Launched in 2021 to capitalize on the shifting dynamics of the job market brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, LinkedIn’s Services Marketplace enables users to promote their services for free. The platform helps businesses and individuals find the right professionals to meet their specific needs.
With over 1 billion users worldwide, LinkedIn revealed that the Services Marketplace has grown by 48% compared to the previous year. Additionally, the platform now receives an average of 8 service requests per minute, which marks a 65% increase from the prior year.
Although the Services Marketplace is accessible globally, including in Turkey, LinkedIn has not yet shared data on how many services have been sold or the average earnings of freelancers using the platform.
In the face of global inflation and economic uncertainty, companies are reassessing their operations, with many reducing staff to cut costs. The technology sector alone has seen over 100,000 layoffs this year, pushing some workers to pursue freelance careers instead of traditional full-time employment.
