Substack offers $20M incentive for paid subscription writers

Substack has launched a $20 million fund to attract creators and support subscription-based content models. Named the Substack Creator Accelerator Fund, the program aims to help writers currently using platforms like Ghost and Beehiv transition to Substack while maintaining their existing income levels.

Unlike its competitors, which charge monthly fees, Substack takes 10% of newsletter revenue. This revenue-sharing model addresses the concerns of creators worried about financial loss during platform transitions. To further ease the process, Substack provides a dedicated support team for migrating accounts.

Among the first participants in the program are Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers, creators of Pantsuit Politics, a newsletter with over 18,000 paid subscribers. Substack has also clarified that the fund is open to U.S.-based content creators who earn at least $2,000 in monthly recurring revenue.

Currently hosting over 35 million users worldwide, including 3 million paid subscribers, Substack is leveraging this initiative to expand its network of writers and strengthen its position in the subscription-based content ecosystem.
